In my last post, I shared the concept of “Out of the Blue.” Today I’ll tie this idea directly to your Direct Selling business.
Let’s briefly revisit the inspiring quote by Marianne Williamson:
“The miracle of illumination does not come from rational evidence; it comes literally from ‘out of the blue,’ a consummate visual symbol for the realms of pure potentiality. The potential for infinite breakthrough emerges when our proactive embrace of the light is even greater than our fear of the dark.”
Notice that Marianne says that the miracle of illumination does not come from rational evidence. Hmmm. Let’s delve deeper and tie this to building your Business.
Rational Evidence
Putting your mindset first is hard for most people. You think building your business has to be a rational process. A real-world process. A logical process. You see limitations instead of potential.
As you read this you may think, “Oh, that’s not me. I’m optimistic.” But we’re all human. Sooner or later, we sense a limitation and think what appears to be a rational thought.
It might be a thought about:
- Your belief: “I don’t know what I’m doing.”
- Your results: “I’m only <such-and-such a title> after all these <months or years>.”
- Your story: “Who am I kidding? I can’t lead a team!”
- Your fear: “I won’t do this! I simply can’t!”
When you listen to these thoughts, when you choose to believe they are the only thoughts that “make sense,” what happens? You don’t take action. You let your “rational” thoughts stop you. You stay stuck. And it’s all self-imposed! So it just makes sense to find the courage to figure out what’s stopping you!
Once you’ve taken a fresh look at your powerful rational thoughts, identify which ones are stopping you. You can’t skip this step, because before you can “proactively embrace the light” as Marianne suggests, you must first identify the thoughts that are keeping you in the dark.
Can you see that when you let your “rational” thoughts stop you, you’re letting the door slam closed, and shutting out your out-of-the-blue experience?
I am convinced that the nature of our profession literally holds the door open for each of you to experience pure potentiality – that unlimited upside. It’s time for you to open the door and welcome your out-of-the-blue experiences.
