Don’t Waste Time—Make Your 2019 Resolution Now

When it comes to making a resolution, January is the perfect time to look ahead at the fresh new year. It is the ideal moment to identify the goals you like to achieve and the life you want to design.

This post is not about setting your business objectives. Instead, it’s about looking at what creates the most impact to empower you to reach your 2019 goals.

As you become clear on what you want to do, the question then becomes who will you need to be to carry out your plan?

With that in mind, I like you to consider five resolutions. When put into practice, these can help you develop the confidence to step into your greatness.

1. Embrace Personal Development

I believe the number one resolution you can make to create a dramatic shift in your life is the commitment to daily personal development. I encourage you to regularly focus on yourself and not only on your job or your business.

I once heard a statement that said, “Success begins at the end of your comfort zone.” A daily practice of personal development can help give an individual the courage to step across that boundary and embrace life on their terms.

You owe it to yourself to spend 15 to 30 minutes every day putting positive thoughts into your head. This way, you can remind yourself how amazing you are and how your possibilities are endless!

Get your head in the game so you can live up to your potential. Find the courage to take action and live the life you desire—the life you deserve!

With your commitment to personal development, you will successfully meet the adventures, challenges, and opportunities that await you in the new year.

I find wonderful inspiration from this challenge every day, and I wish the same for you.

2. Strike a Healthy Balance

You have nothing without your health! It will be silly to reach your personal and financial goals with a serious health problem.

You are too sick, tired, overweight, or medicated to enjoy them.

The top excuse for neglecting your health is “I don’t have time!” Not taking care of yourself physically, though, is another way of settling for a life less than you deserve.

Think about your life ten years from now. Decide how you want your life to be then.

Do you see yourself feeling older than you are? Do you already have mobility and health issues?

Will you be healthy and active, still able to do whatever you want?

Make fitness and healthy eating a New Year’s resolution. Make it a priority and a lifestyle. You do deserve it!

3. Rekindle Your Passion

Take some time to think and journal the top ten things you love about your business and its products or services. How does your commitment to your customers or clients drive your passion?

Don’t forget to note all the ways a successful business will change your life, your family’s life, and your lifestyle. It’s empowering to rekindle the passion for your business and reignite your dreams.

Remember, you decided to start your business for a reason.

What personal goals are important enough to drive your need to succeed? What is your Reason Why?

When your Reason Why is vague, it’s easy to make excuses, settle, stay stuck, or quit.

When your Reason Why is clear and compelling, it becomes a driver for consistency, efforts, accountability, focus, and courage.

4. Identify Your Support Group

Take a good hard look at who you hang out with, who you brainstorm with, who you confide in, and who you depend on. Do everything you can to surround yourself with people who support you unconditionally.

They are honest and trustworthy. They have the commitment to your dream as much as you do.

Purposely choose your community. Ride with them as often as possible.

As your resolution for 2019, think about creating an accountability partnership with someone who has a similar-sized but non-competitive business. Connect and commit to regular calls.

Share your “wins” as well as your frustrations.

Share with each other your top three goals for growing your business. Commit to the action steps needed to realize them and the timeline for completing them. In each call, ensure you hold each other accountable to meet your personal timelines and commitments.

5. Find the Joy

Take time every day to identify and celebrate everything working in your life and business. Make it one of your decisions to create a gratitude list every morning.

Instead of focusing on what isn’t working in your life, you can zero in on all the things that do. Gratitude offers you a new perspective. It will help you tackle any challenge that comes your way.

This reminds me of an inspirational quote from Marianne Williamson: “You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.”

My wish for you is to embrace these five resolutions so you can learn a new way to think. As 2019 unfolds, you can make it a resolution to make it the year where your dreams become reality!
