December is a special time of year for your Direct Selling business. As you enter this high retail, social and resolution period, it’s important that you:
1) Enjoy the season!
2) Stay consistent through all the distractions.
One way to keep your spark lit is to cast your vision for the new year. Come up with some fresh goals and create a new perspective. Your business thrives when you dedicate time for strategic planning and reflection.
Set aside a specific amount of time before the end of the year to do some vision work, identifying ideas and activities that will make a lasting impact.
Start by looking back on 2021. Take note of the areas in your business where you excelled and achieved, where you evolved and experienced breakthroughs. Enjoy this opportunity to acknowledge your strengths and the times you were willing to step into your greatness. Even if you fell short of your ultimate goals, in what areas did you move in the right direction?
Next, with honesty and self-compassion, identify the areas of your business where there is room for improvement. Where would you like to do better or feel more confident? In what areas would you like to step up to the plate more frequently?
I would add the pandemic to the equation. How well did you pivot? How comfortably did you embrace change? How has the pandemic changed the way you view your business? Your relationships? Your community?
As part of this exercise, consider how we all have emotional baggage that we’ve been carrying around for a long time. Some baggage is heavy and weighs us down. Some baggage is light and provides so much positive support for our dreams and aspirations, it almost carries us!
For many of us, the past 18 months has transformed our emotional baggage.
As you create your vision and update your goals, consider the baggage you choose NOT to carry with you. Some examples:
- Unwillingness to change
- Fear of the future
- Procrastination
- Negative self-talk
- Avoidance
- Resistance to social media
- Poor time management
- Low self-confidence, self-deserve, self-worth
- Fear of rejection, failure, success
Now, identify the baggage you choose TO carry with you into the New Year. This is baggage that supports your success! Some examples:
- Flexibility to easily pivot
- Optimistic outlook for the future
- Joyful productivity
- Positive self-talk
- Daily activity
- Authentic and consistent social media posts
- Excellent time management
- High self-confidence, self-deserve, self-worth
- Courage to act
You’ll find it helpful to write out your intentions.
“I choose not to carry an unwillingness to change into the New Year!” “I choose not to carry fear of the future!”
“I choose to carry an optimistic outlook!” “I choose to carry the courage to be flexible and to act!”
Remember, your courage to choose wisely will come from your commitment to personal development. I recommend that you also write out your intention to pursue a daily personal development practice.
“I choose to embrace personal development. I easily find the time today and every day for my personal practice!”
Don’t just randomly travel into 2022, bringing residual anxiety and stress with you. Choose your baggage carefully. Step up purposefully, with solid convictions, inspired dreams and joyful optimism. Travel light with a positive attitude!
