Our theme this month is Passion.

Identify something you love to do, and that you feel passionate about. Make an appointment with yourself to put it into play ASAP! Figure out a way to do it on your terms. Life goes by in a blink.

None of us are lacking in work hours or commitments, but many of us are lacking in “recreation.” Think about that word. Let’s break it into parts: you are “re” (again and newly) “creating” yourself.

We’ve mastered work. Now, like when we were children, let’s re-master play!

There is nothing like Passion to spark your potential, kindle your inspiration, and ignite your life. Make it a priority – and you will step into your greatness in every area of your life.

I’ve added this concept to my daily Personal Development practice, and I recommend you do the same. I call it being extra kind to yourself.

I’ve listed some of the things I like to do. While this is not Personal Development by strict definition, these are great ways to free yourself from stress or when you’re overworked, and shift your perspective.

  • Connect with family or friends you haven’t spoken to in a while.
  • Get together with other like-minded people who share similar interests. For example, this could be anything from joining a book club to a bird-watching group.
  • Enliven your environment; for example, I love having fresh flowers in my home at all times.
  • Schedule soothing activities like massages or spa treatments
  • Go for nature walks and take notice of the flora and fauna.
  • Learn something new. Have you wanted to learn how to sing, dance, play an instrument, or take up a new sport? Making time for fun activities we’d love to master (or just be better at), is a great way to add a unique spark to your life.

This is an enjoyable journaling exercise and I encourage you to spend time on YOU kindness at least once a month. Be creative, think without limits, and design your PD practice to meet your needs or desires. And most important of all: Have fun!
