Every person has the potential to be someone—an individual with greatness—but it happens only when one learns how to embrace the light. Discover how you can open yourself to limitless possibilities here.
How to Harness Your Potential and Embrace the Light
Finding the Breakthrough
Marianne Williamson said, “The potential for infinite breakthrough emerges when our proactive embrace of the light is even greater than our fear of the dark.”
Being in the dark is a habit. That’s why I recommend you commit to a personal development practice every morning. Begin the day by spending time in the light. As you experience the benefits, soon, you’ll choose it all the time.
Your commitment to turn away from fear and darkness and hold the door open to the light of great potential and action can call into your life those things that are even better than you can imagine. I call these “out of the blue” experiences. One of my favorite ways to access the light of potential is through meditation.
The Power of Meditation
Manifesting your out-of-the-blue experiences begins with a belief and a vision strong enough to hold the door open to the light and to your pure, true potential. Anything then becomes possible.
You can develop the mental muscle to keep the door open even when rational thoughts and fears jump up to slam it closed.
Types of Meditation
Meditating is a way I develop my mental muscle. For most people, these are the kinds of meditation they practice:
- Guided—Is a form of meditation that uses visualization or imagery. Its name comes from the fact that someone guides you through the process. It can be a teacher or an app you can download on your mobile device. Some of the popular ones are Calm and Headspace.
- Transcendental—Is a type of meditation that involves chanting or focusing on specific words or phrases throughout the day. It requires more specific techniques, so it’s best to do this with a guide or teacher. Either way, the goal is simple: let those words become part of the subconscious so you can bring them into action.
- Mindfulness—Is meditation that compels you to focus on the present. It is straightforward and simple. In fact, you can meditate while washing the dishes and still get the restorative benefits. However, it’s never easy. Your thoughts are constantly going astray. You may be doing yoga, for example, and then start thinking about your grocery list in the middle of your asana. Learning mindfulness is an ongoing practice. It’s not about perfection but progress.
The practice starts with a focus on the breath and you learn to let go of any thoughts that arise. It teaches you to be aware of them but not get emotionally involved with them, then you gently return your attention to your breath.
How Embracing the Light Is Essential for Your Business
Ariana Huffington of Thrive Global, Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, and LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner all practice some form of meditation to help grow their companies and achieve self-development. The question is why. Why is the practice becoming more important in business?
Meditation helps bring the light. With its introduction is the rejection of fear, the clarity of the vision, and the onset of peace despite the challenges that come with building an empire.
It’s the repetition of gently returning your attention that builds the muscle to hold the door open. During my recent meditation, I’ve been returning my attention to the vastness of the blue. I become open to it from which the miracles emerge. It happens without preconceived notions about what those miracles might be. It’s inspiring and makes all the difference in my energy!
People have different ideas on the benefits of meditation but not all of them may be correct. Contrary to popular belief, this practice doesn’t mean you’ll never be fearful anymore or your life will be peaceful until your death.
Meditation, though, can help give you the tools to rise above the force that is bringing darkness into your life. By practicing it, I can recognize fearful thoughts for what they are and gently set them aside. I can turn away from fear to proactively embrace the light of high potential and take action.
That’s how we become unstoppable.
